RECENT and ongoing works have been taking place along the riverside footpath. Most of this is much-needed improvement to what has become an increasingly precarious path in places and will be much appreciated by regular walkers.
It is just a shame that in order to get the digger along the path the ground has been horribly churned up a lot of the undergrowth which added a certain character to the vicinity has been cut back.
ST JAMES’ PCC is pleased to announce the appointment of the new priest in charge, the Rev. Gill Henwood, who will arrive with her family to take up residence in the vicarage in March.
LAST week’s play, Holiday Snap, performed by the drama society, was a sell-out with the general consensus that it was extremely funny and well acted by all members. An enjoyable evening out.
THE now traditional Riding Mill Churches Together Christmas Carol Celebration will take place outside Bobby’s Shop on Saturday, December 20. Don’t forget your voices, or your gloves, and hopefully there will be a warm beverage to reward you at the end. All welcome.
TONIGHT will find the choral society in fine voice as the choir revs up the Christmas season with Finzi’s In Terra Pax, three pieces from Rachmaninov’s Vespers and Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music and Christmas Fantasia. A beautiful mix of music chosen by the young, but very talented, director of music, Alastair Lord. If you are quick Bobby may have one or two tickets left.
NEXT Sunday, December 14, is the first school Christmas fair from 3pm until 5pm. The PTA has been working hard getting the stalls ready, so please show your support and brave the weather by bringing family, young and old alike.
THE pre-school will be holding its first Christmas disco party on Saturday, December 20, from 1pm until 4pm. This event is not exclusive to pre-school children. There will be plenty for everyone to do and, of course, tea and mince pies in the hall.
I highly recommend sending your children along so you can get a bit of peace and quiet, either to put your feet up or to finish your secret parcel wrapping.
Tickets available from pre-school committee members or from Bobby’s.
