ON Saturday and Sunday, March 6 and 7, the planting of Tarset allotment orchard at Greenhaugh will take place.

The day will start at 10.30am with national park volunteers there ready to help.

So get yourselves along, as it promises to be a good day.

THIS month’s North Tyne women’s institute meeting is being held in Falstone Village Hall on Thursday March 11, at 7.15pm.

This month’s guest speaker is John Moreels who will be give a talk and presentation about Nostalgic views of the North-East.

Guests and new members are always welcome. So if you’re feeling nostalgic, come along and bring an old photograph to enter in this month’s competition.

After a delicious supper, a prize will be awarded for the most interesting photograph.

ON March 7, starting at 10am, it’s the North Tyne Crop Show at the Holly Bush Inn.

There’ll be classes for hay/silage (little bale or bag), with prizes for first, second and third in each class.

Entries will be taken on the morning of the show, and judging will start at 1pm.

ON March 13 there will be a Northumbrian soup evening hosted by Bellingham NSPCC, at Tarset Village Hall.

Soup and pudding will be available and there will be a bar. So why not buy a ticket and support an amazing charity?

FINALLY, while I have been delighted to see a number of red squirrels in the valley, I have been informed that, unfortunately, the greys are slowly moving into the area.

If you see any grey squirrels please let someone know, as we don’t want them destroying the red population.
