Slaley news

AVID readers of these notes will have spotted the deliberate mistake in last week’s edition concerning the date for Slaley Show.

If you turn up on August 18, it may be a touch quiet as you will have missed all the excitement. You actually need to be there on August 14 and can help set up on the preceding Wednesday, Thursday, Friday evenings.

Any help would be appreciated for this 151st event.

Apologies for the error.

THE summer holidays can be a quiet time for your reporter, but if you are about, the ’Shire walk on the August 6 will, no doubt, treat you to views you have never seen before.

Bring a friend too.

WORK continues on the water supply with ground conditions being checked for the laying of the main pipe.

Soon the contractors will be visiting all concerned to give an update on the timescale, upgrades to be provided to the properties and further information on how all this will be achieved.

THE above should not be confused with the diggers and major civil engineering works being carried out below Raw Green.

Apart from an occasional boulder finding a home rather too close to a prized car, work is continuing on the bridge and track.

However, there have been unconfirmed rumours the Environment Agency is concerned about migratory fish again; salmon and sea trout are running the Tyne as a result of the recent rain. Watch this space…
