FOUR of Prudhoe’s best known bands and choirs are joining forces to raise money for Tynedale Hospice at Home for the second year in a row.

The Prudhoe Community Band, the Ryton and Prudhoe Methodist Brass Band, the Prudhoe Community Choir and the Prudhoe Gleeman male voice choir will take their audience through a wide range of music at fundraising concert on May 8.

A Celebration of Prudhoe Music last year raised around £2,600 and organiser Ray Hutchinson said he was hoping to bring in even more this time round.

“Tickets went extremely quickly last year - we could probably have sold about 100 more - so I’d advise anyone interested to get them early,” he said.

The concert, to be held at Prudhoe High School, will begin at 7pm.

A raffle will be held and BBC Radio Newcastle’s Marian Foster has agreed to act as compere again.

Prudhoe Methodist Church is once more sponsoring the evening and has agreed to contribute £500.

Tickets cost £5 each and all proceeds will go to the hospice, which offers care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Mr Hutchinson, who is a member of both the Methodist band and the Prudhoe Gleemen, added: “We want to do something for a local charity that’s of benefit to the whole of Tynedale.

“The great thing about Tynedale Hospice at Home is that it’s community based - the services it offers are carried out in people’s homes, not in other buildings, as with other hospices.”
