TYNEDALE Hunt marked the start of the new season of young hound exercises by dedicating a new gate in memory of an outstanding supporter.
A metal gate at the hunt kennels, at Stagshaw Bank, was dedicated to Joe Routledge, who died last year at the age of 93.
Mr Routledge’s work with the hunt was tireless. He had held every office with the Hunt Supporters’ group, helping to provide funds for the kennels and devoting a lot of time to their maintenance.
His daughter, Ann Graham, donated funds to erect the gate, which bears the inscription, ‘Joe Routledge, who lived for hunting.’
At the dedication ceremony, chairman of Tynedale Hunt, Struan Wilson, spoke warmly of the dedication Mr Routledge had shown to the hunt, with MFHs Frank Houghton-Brown, Cheryl Lawson-Croome and Richard Gibb, as well as hunt secretary, Catherine Leech in attendance.
