DON’T forget the jumble sale at the Methodist hall on Saturday, August 7.
The organisers are still looking for jumble (clothes, books, CDs, bric-a-brac etc) and people to help; just give them a ring on (01434) 322757.
This annual event raises money for a number of good causes which this year are Chin up, Gateway into the Community, the Visually Impaired Group and Haltwhistle Town Twinning Association.
Let’s make this a bumper event.
AN exciting town twinning event starts on Monday, August 16, with the arrival of a party of French guests from St Meen, and Italian visitors from Valentano.
The next day they will be in the town, so residents will have every opportunity to try out their language skills!
Later in the day they will join Colin on a walking tour of Haltwhistle’s historic sites.
In the days that follow the visitors will be taken on tours or guided walks around the area, and evening entertainment has been arranged at various venues.
The French guests will leave on Friday, August 20, with the Italians going home the next day.
We will make sure, of course, that they all go home with wonderful memories of our very special town, and the surrounding countryside.
The weather, unfortunately, is not in our hands!
CONGRATULATIONS to the Haltwhistle Film Project as it marks its 10th anniversary.
Members work very hard to provide a programme of films to suit different tastes throughout the year, using local venues.
The project brings together filmmakers, artists and organisations in the film industry from across the region and offers training in film services and animation.
It is proving to be something of a godsend for many people looking to prosper in this particular sector.
THE coffee morning on Thursday, July 22, was well supported, and raised almost £400 for the British Heart Foundation. The following Saturday a similar event raised £462.02 for the NSPCC.
On Saturday, July 31, it will be the turn of the Haltwhistle Young Farmers to host the coffee morning, as usual in the Methodist Hall from 9.30am.
HALTWHISTLE Partnership is running some music and arts events for young people during the school holidays at various times in the basement of the Methodist church.
For more information contact the partnership on (01434) 321242.
