AN event to help thwart criminals targeting farms across Tynedale will take place in Haltwhistle on Wednesday.
As part of Northumberland County Council’s Farmwatch campaign, the information event will be held at Haltwhistle swimming and leisure centre from 1pm to 3.30pm.
The county council’s safety officers, working in partnership with the police and fire and rescue service, will be attending the session to provide farmers with signs, alarms and information about the scheme.
Michael Connelly, of Northumberland County Council, said: “Last month we ran a similar event in Bellingham, which was well attended and we hope that this session will be equally successful.
“Farmers are invited to call in and sign-up to the Farmwatch campaign.
“The aim is to enrol those who live in rural areas and develop effective communication links with the community safety partners so that suspicious activities can be promptly reported and investigated by the police.”
