Farm shop wins national acclaim for local products

BLAGDON Farm Shop has long been regarded as a champion of all things local.

And in the month of January, the shop received a double boost of awards recognising its commitment to quality food produced in the region.

The shop won the regional title in the local food category of the “rural Oscars” organised by The Countryside Alliance, and will now take on the rest of the country in the national final to be held at the House of Lords in March.

The shop was also a national finalist in the own and local category in the Farm Retail Organisation Awards, held in Edinburgh in February.

Shop manager Joanne Celerier said: “To be recognised by our peers after a series of secret shoppers, unannounced visits by judges as well as thorough examination of every aspect of our business, is extremely satisfying and a real boost.

“We have always been committed to giving our customers the very best in local food, be it our own Belted Galloway beef or something new from one of our fantastic local artisan producers.”
