A RETIRED high-flying civil servant who reached the highest echelons of the European Union has been appointed as chairman of Hexham Community Partnership.
Bob Hull, a member of Newcastle University’s board of governors and chairman of Hexham Rotary’s vocational committee, lives in Maiden’s Cross on Allendale Road.
He takes over from Roy Dallison, who held the post for three years.
Mr Dallison said during the partnership’s annual general meeting it had made substantial progress during that time.
Under his chairmanship, it had purchased the Forum Cinema and established a base at No 28 (Derwent Road) for the Hexham East regeneration project.
The partnership had also organised and supported many a community event.
Coun. Ingrid Whale thanked him for his service both to the partnership and the town as a whole.
“Roy was a glowing example of leadership – and good leaders inspire others,” she said.
“He also had a very keen eye to the finances, making sure every penny was spent wisely and accounted for.”
