New Ridley scheme gets green light

A DEVELOPER has been given the go-ahead for a housing scheme in Stocksfield – after scaling down the number of homes from 22 to 16.

Almost a year after its original plans were turned down, Esh Developments has been given the green light to build the affordable homes on land west of the Grove, on New Ridley Road.

Northumberland County Council’s west area planning committee approved the application on Wednesday, despite 35 objections, and opposition from Broomley and Stocksfield Parish Council.

Members heard that the reduced number of houses made the proposal more appropriate for the green belt site, while changes to the layout would overcome concerns over car parking.
