A MAN has died near Ovington after becoming trapped under a falling tree.
Emergency services were called to a remote community of wooden chalets near the Whittle Burn, between Ovington and Ovingham, at around 1.15pm on Thursday.
Fire crews from Hexham, Prudhoe attended the incident, and a special rescue team was drafted in from West Hartford to move the tree, which it is understood was being felled at the time.
The Great North Air Ambulance and Hazardous Area Rescue Team from the North East Ambulance Service were also called, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police investigation is now under way.

HAVING raised over £1,000 through prize draws, dances, whist drives and donations, Bellingham was able to buy its town hall.
So successful was the fund-raising that when all the debts were cleared more than £100 was left in the fund.
The hall could now be used by the town for all manner of social and public functions.
