A HOSPITAL care worker has been found guilty of sexually assaulting an elderly patient.
The majority verdict against David Glendenning (45) was delivered by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday.
Glendenning, from Wark, denied assaulting the 70-year-old woman at Hexham General Hospital in August last year.
The woman, who died three months after the assault, said Glendenning kissed her and touch her breast in a bathroom at the hospital.
A video of her evidence, given in an interview with police, was shown to the jury.
Glendenning claimed the woman had a crush on him and made up the claims when he did not respond to her advances.
The jury returned their 10-2 majority verdict after eight hours’ deliberation at the end of a week-long trial.
Glendenning has been remanded on conditional bail. He will appear again at Newcastle Crown Court for sentence on August 13.
