TV CHEF Heston Blumenthal may be known for his wacky culinary creations, but a Hexham chef has teamed up with Waitrose to prove anyone can recreate his unique style.
Gavin Dicks, one half of Hexham Golf Club’s catering team, SG Hospitality, will take an audience of 70 people step-by-step through two of Heston’s classic dishes – all to support a trio of charities.
Using Waitrose produce, Gavin will prepare pan-seared cod with a leek and potato sauce and Heston’s lemon tart, all from recipe cards available in the Hexham store.
“The two Heston recipes we’ve chosen are very simple and aim to show how easy it is to rustle up good food at home at a cheap price,” explained Gavin.
And while guests will get to taste test the finished products, staff from Waitrose will also be on hand with a range of the supermarket’s wines and cheeses to try.
The event, which is raising funds for Josie’s Dragonfly Trust, Alzheimer’s Northumberland and Water Aid, will take place at Hexham Golf Club on Wednesday, April 24 at 7pm.
Tickets and more information are available from Hexham Golf Club and Waitrose, Hexham.

The Miners' Hall at West Wylam was officially re-opened after undergoing extensive renovation.
Built as a cinema with a sloping floor 15 years previously, a ladies' cloakroom had been added and the floor levelled to turn it into a dance hall.
The work cost £500, half of which came from the Northumberland Miners' Association.
