Hexham's Sunday parking charges scrapped

CHARGES for parking in Hexham on Sundays are set to be scrapped.

The Liberal Democrat-run Northumberland County Council is proposing to lift the long-standing charge on the Sabbath to ease the burden on hard-pressed motorists.
In a U-turn by the executive, car park charges would also be frozen, rather than being increased as originally proposed, in a bid to ensure that Hexham and the county’s other market towns do not see a drop in visitors or a drop in trade.
