Hexham: Be star struck by open day

STARS of stage and screen will be walking a very different red carpet today.

Residents of a Hexham care home will be mingling with the likes of Marilyn Monroe and James Bond for a special fund-raiser this afternoon.

As part of National Care Home Open Day, staff at Elm Bank are raising cash for their residents’ fund by dressing up as film stars.

The theme was chosen by the residents and the home will be open to the public from 2pm, with fund-raising events including a tombola and raffle.

This is the second time the open day has been held nationally. It aims to open up care homes throughout the UK with events and activities designed to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities.
