HEXHAM and Ponteland have been named among the top 10 places to live in the North-East and Yorkshire.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide assesses each area on key features including transport links, quality of schools, natural beauty, low crime rate, property prices, cultural life and unemployment figures.
The virtues of each community are also gauged on individual assets such as local festivals and architecture.
Hexham and Ponteland are listed alongside the likes Gosforth, York and Alnwick in the regional honours.
The overall UK winner will be announced on March 17.
In 2005, Hexham topped a regional poll in Country Life magazine as the best market town, before going on to win the national crown.
