A 30-year-old man who was brutally killed last Monday morning has been named by police as Antonio Zaref.

Mr Zaref, from Belvedere, died of severe head injuries after being attacked near North Road, Belvedere, last week.

Police were called to the scene after a member of the public reported a man had collapsed. Mr Zaref was rushed to Darent Valley Hospital, in Dartford, but was pronounced dead 15 minutes after arrival.

The post-mortem report concluded he died of multiple head injuries.

A local businessman, who did not wish to be named, said: I didnt know the victim personally but its shocking something like that can happen around here.

Normally it is a quiet community. There are several different nationalities who live here and something like this is unbelievable.

The detective leading the investigation had no comment to make.

In another case, a man has appeared in Bexley Magistrates Court charged with the murder of a 30-year man. Dimitri Gueorguiev, a self-employed 34-year-old, of North Road, Belvedere, needed an interpreter as he stood in the dock.

No plea was entered and he was remanded in custody until January 16.
