Haltwhistle school bids for academy status

ONE of Tynedale’s leading schools is poised to break out of county council control by as early as April.
Parents with children at Haltwhistle Community Campus are being consulted on the possibility of the school converting to an academy.
This would mean the school would be funded directly by the Department for Education, rather than being under the control of Northumberland County Council. It would be the first school in Tynedale to go down the academy route, and only the ninth in the entire county.
