Facelift for Ebchester bridge

A 150-YEAR-OLD ‘incontinent’ bridge in Ebchester is receiving a £30,000 make-over – at no cost to the public.

In a graphic demonstration of the fact it’s an ill wind that blows nobody good, operators of the controversial Boundary Lane windfarm are picking up the tab to plug the leaks on the 150-year-old Ebchester Old Bridge.
But there is method in the madness of EDF Energy Renewables, who needed to run a cable across the River Derwent.
