TORRENTIAL rain caused severe disruption across large parts of Tynedale on Thursday afternoon.
Several roads were closed because drainage systems were unable to deal with the volume of water.
The entrance to the Waitrose store in Wentworth, in Hexham, was flooded, as was a large section of the Wentworth car park. The Wentworth Leisure Centre was closed.
Conditions in Station Road, Hexham, were particularly bad. The volume of water was so huge in Priestpopple that sections of the road were washed away.
At one stage, the A69 was closed in both directions between the A68 junction at Corbridge and Bridge End Roundabout, in Hexham.
