Concern over 'Corbridge' school chaos

EDUCATION chiefs remain tight-lipped over the sudden departure of a Tynedale first school headteacher.

Meanwhile worried parents with youngsters at Corbridge First School have expressed their disappointment at the “lack of transparency” surrounding the absence of headteacher Julie Logan and an “ongoing sense of chaos” at the school.
Letters were sent home to parents from the governing body in November, telling them Julie Logan, who took over as headteacher in September 2011, would not be in school for the “immediate future”.

Over 2,000 people attended the Temperance Gala held at Greencroft Park, Haltwhistle.

Led by the Bardon Mill Brass Band, 12 temperance societies paraded through the town, prior to an open air meeting in the park.

During the event the Rev. J.M. Russel condemned the House of Commons for rejecting a proposal to increase taxes on spirits and beer.
