Chollerton village notes

SOME time ago, Chollerton Parochial Church Council agreed to plant a garden in part of the old churchyard at St Giles’s.

The area was planted with a mix of shrubs, perennials bulbs and wild flowers to encourage birds, insects and bees and flowers for church arrangements.

The aim was to create a more interesting and inspirational area in the churchyard.

The garden is always open for visits and families are most welcome to become involved in its development.

The team is always looking for more people to join in – contact Marilyn Grant or Richard Hay (Chollerton PCC) if you are interested.

CARPET bowls is played in Barrasford village hall every other week. The next sessions are on Thursday, June 12, and Thursday, June 26.

LOOKING forward to events in June and beyond, here is a taste of what’s coming up.

Please contact Jen Dover, who is coordinating the transport arrangements.

BIRTLEY church fete is on Sunday, June 8, at Chipchase Castle and will include a fun dog show alongside the usual stalls selling teas, cakes and plants etc.

Families can enjoy the fun canine capers with their dogs – all to raise much-needed church funds.

The castle will be open during the fete for a separate entrance fee and is well worth a visit.

CHOLLERTON church teddy bear jump is on Saturday, June 21, at 3pm, followed by a family barbecue.

Brave teddies can be booked in from 2pm.

Adult entries welcome, as in previous years. Please ensure teddies are appropriately equipped with a parachute.

Someone has very kindly donated some ready-made parachutes if you have difficulty with yours.
