AFTER working for a Hexham butcher for 20 years each, two men have taken over the family business in honour of their former employee.
Billy Spirit and Tim Graham have bought Robsons and Sons butchers’ shop.
The business came on to the market following the death of owner Clive Robson last September, and the new proprietors have decided to keep the family name as a mark of respect to their former boss.
Mr Graham said: “To show respect to Clive and his family we are to keep the name going.
“We are to carry on the same and try to keep all our customers happy.
“We try to offer them a more traditional butcher’s like they have been getting. There are not many traditional butchers like us left.”
The new owners have promised to continue offering the same service as the previous owner, but are hoping to make the business more able to compete strongly against other outlets.
They hope that this will continue to attract the same clientele as before – with additional trade at the same time.
Mr Graham added: “What we are trying to do is keep the same quality that we have provided over the years but are trying to be a bit more competitive.
“We have got a strong customer base and I think we have kept up the tradition.”
