Bing's disappearing act in London

THE bright lights of London proved irresistible for Jack the Lad terrier Bing.
His usual haunts are rural splendour of Birtley in the North Tyne, but owner Adam Waugh decided to take the Jack Russell with him on a trip to the capital on Sunday.
Six year-old Bing got so excited by the hurly burly of the big city as he bounced around on the back seat of Adam’s car that he stood on the electric window catch – and unknown to Adam, he dived out of the open window!

Friday, June 19th, 1970Boreholes were to be sunk on a site destined for old people's flats at West Wylam.
Work was due to start on the houses at the end of August, but Prudhoe Urban Council decided to sanction the test drilling after fears the properties' foundations would need reinforcing because of subsidence.
