The Northumberland County partnership, which aims to bridge the gap in the experiences residents have in health, education, and social outcomes, have held its first meeting.

The meeting was held on April 17, and it was headed by Lord Don Curry.

This group aims to provide residents with fair access to a good quality life, including quality jobs, decent income, warm housing, and proper educational and training opportunities.

Lord Don Curry said: "I'm delighted partners have come together through this forum to tackle inequalities in our county.

"I look forward to chairing the partnership and working with partners on this important initiative."

Collaborating with the Institute of Health Equity (IHE), the partnership will be working together to find short, medium and long term recommendations to tackle inequalities from April 2024 to April 2026.

Dr Helen Paterson, the CEO at Northumberland County Council shared: "Our new County Partnership will provide a dynamic forum to enable collective power to be released and achieve generational change."

She added: "This is an exciting opportunity, with the county's biggest partners coming together to tackle long-term inequalities."
