Five staff members from a care home in Corbridge are participating in the Great North Run later this year.
Sam Willis, Zoe Wilson, Megan Wilson, Amy Newell, and Abbie Chisholm from Charlotte Straker House aim to show their support for their residents through this marathon challenge on September 8.
Ms Willis, deputy manager at Charlotte Straker House, said: “Running the Great North Run is not just about crossing the finish line; it’s about showing our residents that we’re with them every step of the way, both in and out of the care home.”
The team has been extensively training while balancing their work schedules.
Ms Newell, senior carer at Charlotte Straker House, said: “It’s hard work trying to train around our shift patterns, but we’re determined to raise as much as possible and make all our residents proud.
“We’re not just running for ourselves; we’re running for everyone who lives at Charlotte Straker House."
