A new report ranks postcodes in Tynedale based on their average house price, revealing the cheapest and most expensive places to live in the district.

With constant inflation rises, the opportunity for first-time buyers to get a mortgage offer that is affordable and reasonable is challenging. This is leaving people either not moving out at all or paying to rent a place instead.

Responding to this ongoing change, Cardinal Steels and Online Marketing Surgery created a House Price Report, which ranked postcodes in Tynedale based on their average house price from January 2022 to January 2023.

Property price data was used from HM Land Registry to calculate average house prices for all areas in Tynedale.

It revealed Haltwhistle and the NE49 postcode are the cheapest areas in Tynedale to buy a property with an average price of £163,247.

Average prices in Bellingham and the NE48 postcode were £265,057, while Corbridge and NE45 postcodes were approximately £371,320.

The area in Tynedale revealed to have the highest house prices is Wylam and the NE41 postcode, with an average price of £413,357.

Other areas included Hexham and postcode of NE46 with an average of £281,012 and Stocksfield and NE43, averaging around £356,653.

Liam Edwards of Online Marketing Surgery said: “With four out of the nine postcodes in Tynedale being below the UK house price average of 281,913, it’s good to see some good prices in the district, especially in Haltwhistle.

"However, work still needs to be done so the postcodes of NE47, NE43, NE44, NE45 and NE41 can become more affordable. This may make the area even more appealing for people on the property market.”
