Applications for the 13th annual LOVE Northumberland Awards, which spotlight community environmental efforts, are now open.

The awards recognise the exceptional work of community groups, schools, and individuals enhancing local areas and neighbourhoods.

The winners will receive their honours at a special event at the Alnwick Garden, with the Duchess of Northumberland, this summer.

Entries are invited for; Best children’s project, Best young people’s project, Best urban project, Best coast or countryside project, Outstanding individual, Best community response to the climate change emergency.

Councillor Colin Horncastle, cabinet member for Looking After Our Environment at Northumberland County Council said: "Protecting the environment, our biodiversity and our green spaces is a real focus for us and we’re delighted to be getting this year’s awards underway.

“It’s definitely one of the highlights of our year and judges are always extremely impressed with the high calibre of nominations. I am sure this year will be no exception."
