A GRAPHIC artist will officially open her new shop selling artwork of iconic locations today (March 28).

Amy Moffatt, 42, is originally from Corbridge and has lived all over the world for the last 16 years and moved back to the UK last year.

She moved back to Corbridge with her family and is now opening a permanent shop for her business, Travels of Amy M, on St Mary's Chare in Hexham.

"I'm a graphic artist and make travel-related art, things like coasters and giftware, of iconic locations around the world. They're all places I've visited in the last 16 years and I'm celebrating those places.

"My business has been very successful, I've had it for about 12 years now," she said.

Now Amy has returned to the Tyne Valley, she is working on a big Northumberland artwork range, which she will launch in the next few weeks.

Amy wanted a permanent base to use as both a studio and a shop and jumped at the chance when the space came up in Hexham.

All of Amy's products are designed and handmade by her.

"Everything's custom printed to order. You might want three different prints in three different sizes and a set of coasters. Everything's tailored to the customer's requirements," she said.

"I love that my art helps people have happy travel memories and helps them celebrate those happy times.

"It's nice to come back to where I'm from and open a shop space here and celebrate the last 16 years of travel. I saw a need for more independent businesses in Hexham and it just so happened where I am on St Mary's Chare there is another couple of artists and interior designers next door so it all made sense. It feels like we're making an art and design precinct here on St Mary's Chare," Amy said.

Travels of Amy M's opening night is on Thursday, March 28 from 4pm to 7pm at 16 St Mary's Chare.
