A LITTER pick took place as part of a film festival in town.
The Tyne Valley Film Festival, organised by Forum Cinema in Hexham, is the fourth annual event featuring 36 screenings across 26 unique venues in the Tyne Valley between March 15-28.
The Wombles, a litter-picking group which covers areas in Hexham, carried out a litter pick on March 17 to tie in with the film festival's screening of Wombling Free, originally released in 1977.
Approximately 40 people got involved in picking litter and collectively gathered 30 bags of rubbish.
Litter pickers also received free popcorn as part of the film screening.

Suzanne Fairless-Aitken, town councillor for Hexham East and organiser of the Wombles' litter picks, said the litter pick was 'one of our biggest yet'.
"It tied into The Wombles movie and free popcorn at The Forum. There were 40-plus litter pickers, with families and everything. It was fabulous," she added.
