A RAILWAY crossing barrier near Corbridge was damaged after a vehicle crashed into it earlier this week.

Police were alerted to the incident at Dilston Level Crossing following reports at about 3pm on Monday, February 11, that the barrier had failed.

No one was injured during the incident and the barrier was swiftly fixed and the B6321 road reopened to traffic a short time later.

A spokesperson from Northumbria Police told the Hexham Courant: “At 3pm [on Monday] we received a report that a vehicle had collided with a barrier which had failed on Dilston Level Crossing, in Corbridge, Northumberland.

“Officers attended and no-one was found to have been injured in the incident.

“The barrier was repaired a short time later and the road fully re-opened to traffic.”
