CONCERNS of Prudhoe residents have prompted Northumberland Council to install deer warning road signs 'in the near future'.
Prudhoe Councillor Gordon Stewart, who was keen to see this happen, said: "This comes after deer have been sighted in various locations around Prudhoe and other Tynedale areas, as well as several collisions and near misses involving vehicles and deer.
"Research has shown that deer warning signs on roads they are seen to cross regularly reduce the risks to vehicle users and animals.
"Residents have been contacted to ask that signs be placed in various locations, to which the council has confirmed that it will do this as soon as possible."
A NCC spokesperson said: "We have been made aware of concerns following reports of young deer on the Prudhoe bypass and are looking to install two deer warning signs on this stretch of road in the near future."
