A NEW business will be opening soon in Prudhoe.

Seaside Travel will open its second business in Tynedale this year after its success with the Haltwhistle store, which won Best Newcomer 2023 at the Jet 2 Fight or Flight Conference 2023 in Antalya, Turkey.

This will be the eighth location for its owner, Nicola Park, who has also announced she will be opening her ninth business in Boldon.

Nicola has been working in the travel sector since she was 16 years old. She worked for independent travel groups within Hays Travel, but one day, she felt she could stand independently.

Nicola believes that the second Northumberland town is a perfect addition to her business chain.

She said: "We hope to open within five or six weeks by the time we complete decorating the building and many other things.

"One of my Haltwhistle girls had asked me if I had ever been to Prudhoe, and we hadn't.

"She told us about its unique high street and that the local people were a community and were very loyal to local businesses.

"So when we visited, I fell in love with the place. It is fantastic, it has everything you could need on the main street, and there is no need to go anywhere else - so we thought a travel agent would be perfect.

"I do think that a travel agent is missing from the street, and I can't wait to get in there and get everything done so we can serve the community.

"It has a real community spirit, and we will join in with the parish councillors.

"The council, especially Gordon, has been wonderful. He has been so supportive and helpful, and we have been made to feel very welcome."

Prudhoe Cllr Gordon Stewart said: "I am delighted that such a highly respected and established business has chosen to open another premises here in Prudhoe.

"This shows that the town's future is bright; such a business will attract customers from a wide area, which can only benefit others in the town.’
