A CAFE'S application to 'revamp' its building has been approved.

Miners Cafe in Prudhoe has announced that its planning application to make its building more accessible for users has been approved.

The plans include making internal/external alterations such as an accessibility ramp, toilet facilities and a rear prefabricated garage for food bank storage.

The site is a community cafe and hub that is operated by the Friends of Eastwoods Park, a registered charity.

The group bought the derelict building that was once a former Bowls Pavilion and opened its doors in 2019.

Russ Greig, project manager said: "We’re delighted that our planning application has been approved.

"The improvements that we intend to make to the former bowls pavilion will make a big difference to people in our community being able to access our facilities and open green space in Eastwoods Park.

"One of the biggest barriers to those with complex care needs enjoying our green space is the like of facilities such as changing places, toilets and access.

"We will be the first place in Prudhoe to have such facilities and this is a big step in the right direction."
