TYNEDALE bar owners have been praised for their community work in an MP's award scheme.

Ashleigh and Sam Jackson, who run the Brew Bar in Haltwhistle, have won Guy Opperman's Small Business of the Year competition.

The business on Market Place has gone from strength to strength since opening in December 2018 and, ever since, has appealed to locals throughout the year with its outside seating area, fresh food, and takeaway service.

Guy Opperman MP said: "Ashleigh and Sam go above and beyond at the Brew Bar to serve the local community in Haltwhistle.

"It is clear just how much local people in Haltwhistle value the Brew Bar, and I have been inundated with compliments about the quality of their food and the even better service that they offer.

"You know that you will always get service with a smile from the friendly staff, and it is always a pleasure to pop in for a cup of tea and a delicious homemade sandwich.'

"Well done to everyone - including Val, Nic, Steven and Lauren, for working so hard to keep the Brew Bar so special. It was a great pleasure to recognise their efforts through this award."

Speaking about the award, Ashley and Sam Jackson said: "This was a lovely surprise and we are chuffed to receive the award.

"It has been a challenging year to say the least, but we are so touched. It's brilliant to be recognised in this way, particularly after so much hard work and determination."
