A PUPPY'S life has been saved by those who donated to a GoFundMe page.

Eleven-month-old border collie Max was so seriously ill, owners Becky and Brian Senior, from Prudhoe, had to ask friends, family and members of the public to help gather funding to pay for a CT scan.

The family bought Max when he was 10 weeks old from a private seller to mark a fresh start after Becky's husband Brian beat cancer.  It is hoped that Max could one day be trained as an autism-trained dog for one of their children.

The funding page raised over £5,000 which allowed the family to pay for treatments and the scan.

Thankfully, when Max was strong enough, the family and vets could see what was wrong with him and could help him to get better.

Several weeks later, he is home with his family but is still needing specialised treatments and care.

Becky said: "Max is doing well and is being cared for at home.

"He was discharged just over two weeks ago. Once he had his CT scan and was strong enough to manage without a feeding tube, we took him home with lots of medication, specialist food and orders to desperately gain weight.

"He is now off his anti-sickness and pain relief medication and is responding well to steroid treatment.

"His CT scan has shown there is no liver shunt, which is great news, but he has severe inflammation of the lymph nodes, and the ones in his liver and chest were double the size they're meant to be.

"Max attends the specialist centre every two weeks for ongoing monitoring and blood tests, but is on the road to recovery.

"The money raised covered Max's care, treatment and diagnostic tests while he was admitted in the referral centre and we're so grateful to all of those who helped get him the care he desperately needed."
