A GARAGE extension planning application and various building modifications have been permitted in Ponteland.

The application, submitted to Northumberland County Council, proposed to extend an existing garage to support a new first-floor gable extension to create a new bedroom.

Mr and Mrs Green of Ladyrigg, Darras Hall submitted the application, which also proposed to build a porch to create a new main entrance and replace all windows and doors, add solar panels to the rear roof and create a new gate for pedestrian access.

The highways development management team, which is responsible for dealing with planning applications for new development, submitted a comment in response to the application.

"When assessing this application, the Highway Authority checks that the proposal will not result in an adverse impact on the safety of all users of the highway, the highway network or highway assets," it said.

"The information submitted has been checked against the context outlined above, it is considered that this development will not have a severe impact on highway safety, and there are no objections in principle to the proposals."

Ponteland Town Council did not comment on the application.
