A HOME care company has joined up with a pharmacy branch to combat loneliness this Christmas.

Home Instead Tyne Valley has joined with Boots Pharmacy to gift presents in its Be a Santa campaign.

Now in its tenth year, the campaign calls on locals to Be a Santa and donate gifts for older people in the community who may otherwise not receive anything this Christmas.

Home Instead and Boots have collection points at the following locations for people to drop off gifts:

  • Boots Hexham - 7 Fore St, Hexham, NE46 1LU
  • Boots Corbridge – 4, Town Hall Buildings, Princes St, Corbridge, NE45 5AD
  • Boots Prudhoe – 48 Front St, Prudhoe, NE42 5DD
  • Boots Stocksfield – 1 Alexandra Terrace, Stocksfield, NE43 7LA
  • Home Instead Tyne Valley Office - 1, Mallan House, Bridge End Industrial Estate, Hexham, NE46 4DQ

From winter warmers and toiletries to sweet treats and chocolates, any gifts will be appreciated. The cut-off date for donations is December 17.

Once the company has received all gifts the team will wrap them before donating them to the following local community groups:

  • Hexham Community Centre
  • No.28 Community House
  • Gateway into the Community

The owner of Home Instead Tyne Valley, Heather Hughes, said: “The holiday season can be a challenging time for many older people. We want to spread Christmas love and cheer to make everyone’s Christmas that little bit brighter.

“Please get involved if you can, it really will put a smile on someone’s face this Christmas.”
