RESIDENTS have been invited to contribute to a park's refurbishment.

Northumberland County Council will hold a public drop-in meeting on December 5 from 6pm-7.30pm at the Spetchells Centre in Prudhoe, to encourage residents and businesses to contribute to the planning of the new outdoor sports facility in Eastwoods Park.

The park's new Playzone will be developed on the site's existing Multi-Use Games Arena (MUGA).

It will have an all-weather playing surface suitable for a variety of sports, upgraded fencing and floodlighting to ensure it can be used year-round.

Prudhoe County Cllr Gordon Stewart urged residents and local businesses to contribute to the planning of the facility, by sharing their thoughts on what activities should be put on at the Playzone.

He said: "This is the latest major scheme to improve local facilities in a park that was neglected for many years but is now enjoyed by many people every day of the year. I welcome the investment and hope to hear the views of many people."

Funding for the Playzone was awarded to Northumberland County Council, Prudhoe Town Council and Friends of Eastwoods Park by the Premier League, The FA and government via The Football Foundation.

Refreshments will be provided. For more information, email nathan.fuller@northumberland.gov.uk.
