A COUPLE who are both 101 years old celebrated their oak wedding anniversary last month.
Kathleen (Kathy) and Arnold Bell marked 80 years of marriage on November 16 with friends and family.
The couple married in 1943.
Kathy turned 101 on November 25, months after Arnold celebrated his birthday in August.
It is thought the couple is the second oldest in the UK.
The Prudhoe couple continue to live independently in their own home in Moorlands.
Arnold served in the RAF, while Kathy was a secretary at St Matthew's Catholic Primary School and the pair share a son and grandchildren.
Jane Johnson, a Prudhoe Town Councillor, has known the couple for more than 40 years since she was 17 years old, when both she and Kathy worked at St Matthew's.
"They're famous in Prudhoe, when I put a post on Facebook for their 80th wedding anniversary, I got more than 315 comments. It was amazing really.
"Arnold got a 100th birthday card from the Queen last year in August and Kathy got one from the King in November.
"They're just a devoted lovely couple together, it's amazing how they can still live together in their own home. He only stopped driving when he was in his 90s!"
Jane added: "They like to give each other a little cuddle still."
The pair got a bouquet of flowers gifted by Jane from Prudhoe Town Council.
"The Town Council would like to wish them a happy wedding anniversary," she said.
