Founded well over three decades ago, the fair has changed and evolved over the years, but one thing has always shone through – the tremendous community spirit of Allendale.
It's not just a day out, for the Allendale Fair is a multi-day event that brings people back for more thanks to an action-packed schedule.

Although there was a concern about the fair's future in 2016.
So more than 60 people packed out a public meeting at Allendale Village Hall which had been called by the fair’s organisers, Allendale Lions Club, via social media and fought for it to remain.

The volunteer-led group told the meeting that due to an aging and decreasing membership, new blood was needed if the 33-year-old fair was to continue.
The Allendale Lions’ Margaret Stonehouse said she was impressed with the level of interest expressed by residents keen to set up a new organising committee.

The only other break for the fair was during Covid-19 but when it returned hundreds turned out to welcome back a popular annual event.
