VOLUNTEERS have been praised in a charity ceremony.

Earlier this month, Charlotte Straker House in Corbridge dedicated an afternoon to say thanks to their volunteers and local supporters.

Speaking about the day, a spokesperson for the charity said: "Our Registered Manager Pam Crawley and Home Manager Cheryl Kennedy gave an update on the latest news from Charlotte Straker House whilst Berenice Groves, our Chair of the Trustees presented each volunteer with a certificate and commemorative badge to thank them for their hard work and dedication.

"We also welcomed members from the Tynedale Rotary, plus other local supporters, as well as residents, staff and trustees and it was a brilliant afternoon – the dining room was full to the brim with residents and visitors and their chatter and laughter."

Berenice Groves adds: "Thank you so much to Luda, Margaret, Jen, Heather, Jean and Sue plus Avril and Debbie, who sadly couldn’t make it, for all your help and support. Our volunteers are literally the lifeblood of our care home.

"They bring joy, companionship, and a sense of purpose to our residents, truly making this a place they can call home.

"We are delighted that we can thank them in this way, as well as all our other local supporters. We hope this afternoon will be the first of many.”
