A RETIRED NURSE has the whole town and community behind her as she plans several charity events to raise money for a 'worthwhile charity'.

Annette 'Ann' Davies, orginally from Wales but now lives in Haltwhistle, is on a mission to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance (GNNA).

Ann raised £1,500 for Wales Air Ambulance in 2018 and has donated to several charities in the past but is now back to raise more funds for the charity.

This year, not only is she going to cut her hair and donate it to unwell children who is in need of wigs in August with the help of Salon Twenty Five; but also hosting a table top sale on Friday, June 30 between 11 and 3pm at Haltwhistle library and again on Saturday, July 1.

Hexham Courant:

Ann is known in Haltwhistle as 'Ann the mart' and is a philantropist in the community, therefore she knows the town will support her for the much-appreciated charity.

Speaking about the upcomming events, Annette said: "For the table top sale, there will be clothes, bric-a-brac etc also a raffle and tombola. I shall be very grateful for your support for this worthwhile cause."

The Manor House in Haltwhistle is showng their support for Annette with her charity event and will be donating money towards the charity.

Hexham Courant:

Owner of the business Terry Christie adds: "Annette is one of our regulars here at the Manor House and she is often known for raising money for different charities.

"When she asked if she could leave a collection box for the GNNA, not only did we accept the collection box but also decided to get behind and support her by donating hundreds of pounds to the cause.

"She will also be erecting a stall in our beer garden.

"Myself, my family and staff, are big fans of fell walking and we know how great the GNAA charity is by helping those who get stuck and saving dozen of lives on Hadrian's Wall.

"It is a fantastic cause and we are one hundred per cent behind Ann and GNAA."
