A CORONATION tree was planted by primary school pupils.

Children from Allendale Primary School continued a local tradition by planting a tree in the village square during the coronation’s Big Help Out on Monday, June 8.

This event followed approximately seventy years after schoolchildren planted trees in Allendale for the Coronation of Elizabeth II.

Local volunteers from the Allen Valleys Local History Group and the Parish Council collaborated to improve the central grassed seating area with new plants and planters for the community to enjoy, and the new tree replaces another that had to be removed.
