CELEBRATIONS were held for the Coronation of King Charles III across Tynedale.
Hexham's picnic, organised by Hexham Community Partnership and supported by Hexham Town Council, was part of the nationwide Big Lunch initiative aiming to bring communities together to share friendship, food and fun.
Free activities at the event took place from noon until 3pm, including a giant bouncy slide, face painting, rounders, a graffiti wall, kids’ crafts, and photo opportunities with life-size cutouts of the Royal couple.
Tyne Valley Big Band played a live session in Hexham bandstand and a vintage 1950s Green Goddess fire engine was in the park.
Hexham Town councillor, Suzanne Fairless-Aitken, attended the event and said: "It was magnificent. Whether royalist or republican or just a party lover, the community came together and the sun shone."
Haydon Bridge also marked the coronation with a picnic at Strother Close.
Mobile pizza van Fire & Dough served hot food and many dressed in the English flag colours of red, white and blue.
Face painting, a tombola, a raffle and stalls were also organised.

Bellingham Primary School was successful in receiving a grant from the Northumberland Coronation Community Fund.
All the children at the school were presented with souvenir coronation mugs on behalf on Bellingham Parish Council, which also laid on two coronation parties on Sunday at the town hall.
The afternoon saw a children’s event, with crafts and a magician while in the evening, local musician Jason Arnup and his band entertained a packed town hall with their music.
Coronation postbox toppers were shared by Riding Mill residents.
Northumbria Army Cadet Force staff cadet sergeant Scott (Cowpen), as Lord Lieutenant’s cadet for Northumberland, attended the coronation service at Hexham Abbey alongside the Duchess of Northumberland on Sunday, May 7.
The cadet force was represented by cadets and volunteers from Newcastle at a service of celebration at Newcastle Cathedral.
1st Hexham Scout Group offered people the chance to participate in The Big Help Out on Monday, May 8 to celebrate the King's Coronation.
A new Campfire Circle area was built for the scout's Youth Members to use, at the rear of the Lookwide Centre in Hexham.
Other landscaping work was finished, along with starting a new Wilding project.
People had the chance to try activities including rifle shooting, crossbow shooting, pizza cooking in our outdoor ovens and using our training defibrillator.
New volunteers were gained as a result. The Scouts are keen to speak with anyone who would like to help open a Squirrel Scout Section for 6 to 8-year-olds, this being the newest section in the Scout Association and proving successful elsewhere.

Hexham MP Guy Opperman and Cllr Gordon Stewart joined community members and pupils from Adderlane Academy at the Miners Lamp Community Hub in Prudhoe before the Coronation.
The community made a pathway of painted pebbles around Eastwoods Park for the Coronation.
