A museum owner is still 'buzzing' after appearing next to stars on a panel at a 60th Sci-fi convention.

Museum of Classic Sci-Fi Creator and curator Neil Cole, from Allendale, appeared as one of the special guests over the weekend at the Doctor Who Convention ‘Invasion Blackpool’ – an event that celebrated both 60 years of the long-running science-fiction classic and its connection with the seaside town.

Neil took with him a collection of relics from the series including one of Third Doctor -Jon Pertwee’s trademark ruffled shirts and a screen-used Cyber-leader helmet last seen on screen next to Tenth Doctor – David Tennant.

Hexham Courant:

Speaking about the event, Neil said: "In addition to meeting over 400 fans, I also appeared on stage in the evening alongside noted Doctor Who Historian David J Howe and promoted my very own Doctor Who Museum.

"The museum has been steadily growing in strength and reputation since it opened in 2018. In fact, it was my intention to create a miniature version of the Blackpool Exhibition – recreating the atmosphere it evoked when I first visited in 1975."

"My colleague and friend Debbi Doodle of ‘Debbi’s Doodles’  and long-time supporter of the museum Bedwyr Gullidge, author of the ‘Doctor Who Exhibitions’ book also helped on the day.

Hexham Courant:

"Filmmaker Keith Barnfather was also on hand filming and interviewing me for his next release from his ‘Reeltime Pictures’ DVD range documenting the history of the iconic Doctor Who Exhibitions.

"The main star of the day was actor Colin Baker – who played The Sixth Doctor Who and who, expressed an interest in visiting Allendale and the museum in the near future!"
