A POPULAR fun farm with a tearoom, farm shop, gift shop and garden centre has announced it will close with immediate effect.

Daniel Farm in Wylam said it was “devastated” to be closing and described the decision to shut as “extremely heartbreaking”.

A statement posted on Daniel Farm’s social media pages said: “We are absolutely devastated to announce that with immediate effect.

“This has been an extremely heartbreaking decision for us to make, we are all genuinely broken as we poured so much of our heart and soul into Daniel Farm; we please ask that people are kind and respectful during this extremely difficult time.

“We are so grateful for everyone that has supported us through this journey, we have been so lucky to be blessed with some amazingly hardworking staff, kind & loyal customers and suppliers, we really have made some invaluable friends along the way.

“Thank you so much for all of your support over the years, we sincerely wish all of our beloved staff, customers and suppliers health and happiness in the difficult times that are ahead.”

The farm, owned by Danny and Jane Turner, opened its doors to the public in November 2014.

At the time the couple told the Courant: “It’s hard work, it’s challenging, but it’s exciting and I love it.”

“This is what we want to do for the rest of our lives.”

Reacting to the news, loyal customers shared their sadness on social media, with one saying: “This is extremely sad news and will be such a loss to the community. Feeling for you all having to make this heartbreaking decision.”

Another added: “Ah I am so sorry to hear this, another amazing business who has worked so hard for all they have done.”
