A PRIMARY school received an award reflecting its dedication to the physical education curriculum.

Bellingham Primary School won an award as part of the School Games Mark, a Government-led scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to developing sports competition across their school and local communities.

Wendy Goddard, Bellingham Primary School headteacher, said: "Our school has been awarded with the School Games Platinum Award for 2021 to 2022.

"This reflects our dedication to the PE curriculum and all the high quality PE and outdoor education our pupils take part in regularly. It's our aim to get as many children as possible taking regular part in PE - both in school and out.

"This year we have broadened our offer of provision and have Full of Beans operating a weekly after-school club, as well as Gro and Learn Outdoors for Forest Schools and our own sporting after-school clubs.

"Our children are encouraged to cycle, scoot, run, climb and explore every day during our normal playtimes - they're always on the go," Ms Goddard said.

John-Paul Reay runs the North East branch of Full of Beans Children's Fitness and Sports Coaching, which offers sports activities and holiday clubs.
