Redesdale village notes

DESPITE the inclement weather, this year’s Redefest music festival was a great success, with visitors enjoying the music, participating in the workshops or children’s activities and generally having a great time.

Jim Procter tells me that the festival made a profit of more than £1,000 and that local people or organisations wishing to apply for grants can apply to him by email.

The committee hopes to hold a meeting in early September. Jim’s email address is jimprocter@hotmail.com

AFTER much planning, the residents of Elsdon are almost ready for their village fête on Monday, August 25, and you still have time to volunteer to help with the final preparations.

Help is not only needed on the day, when volunteers can work on stalls or support activities, but this weekend when the village green will be transformed with marquees, tents, barrier netting, roundabouts, a music stage, tables, chairs and much more.

If you don’t yet have something to do at the fête and would like to lend a hand, then call or email David Coles on (01830) 520834 (david.coles@hazyrays.com) or Alison Simmance on (01830) 520417 (alison.simmance@btinternet.com).

Everyone involved will be really grateful for your help.

A FUND-RAISING domino drive will be held at Rochester village hall on Friday, August 29, starting at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
