Redesdale village notes

AFTER a short break, the next of the popular fund-raising quizzes at Otterburn Castle hotel will be held next Wednesday, July 9, starting at 8pm.

Brian Corbett said: “As you will know, the Stable Bar is currently closed, so I am delighted to have been offered the newly- refurbished lounge to host the quiz. I have slight reservations, but the only way to find out if it works is to give it a try.”

This month’s quiz is in aid of Cancer Research UK, and will mark the fifth anniversary of the first quiz which has raised £8,000 for local and national good causes.

Brian added: “ I don’t think that’s bad for a small community. Hopefully the participants have taken some pleasure from the quizzes and I would like to thank everyone who has so resolutely supported the quizzes through thick and thin, and even the occasional blizzard.”

The small entry charge to next week’s quiz includes a light supper. Donated raffle prizes will be gratefully appreciated. Please contact Brian on (01830) 520614.

THE committee of Otterburn Memorial hall is holding a fund-raising prize bingo at the hall on Thursday, July 31, starting at 7.30pm.

A small admission charge includes tea or coffee. Donations for prizes will be greatly appreciated; please give these to Yas Oliver or Gary Satchwell.

The committee is looking for new members to help maintain and manage the Memorial hall. If you are interested, please contact Gary Satchwell on (01830) 520204 or Yas Oliver.
